The Rimmi village did not exist during Lönnrot´s Kainuu time, but for
" karelian enthusiasts" it was a gate to Viena. The village founder Elias
Ahtonen, became known by all Finnish people, although not by his own name
but as Rimmin Uljaska, for he was the model for Väinämöinen in Akseli
Gallen-Kallela painting the Aino tripartite. |
