Vitali Dobrinin

- Born in Uhtua, Viena Karelia, in 1955
- Graduated at Leningrad Herzen
  Art Highschool and worked since then in his
   native region as an artist
- His paintings describe the fate of Karelian
   villages and traditional lifestyle of Viena
   Karelian people

 

Early 1990´s he began to illustrate themes of the Kalevala. Before this he wandered along the poem collecting routes of Elias Lönnrot´s. In 1988 he walked on the footsteps of Lönnrot in Kainuu district and painted the objectives about which the creator of the Kalevala tells himself in his books and traveling reports. These pictures have been used as an illustration of this program.
